Debido a su complejidad, estos modelos requieren <strong>t\u00e9cnicas num\u00e9ricas y computacionales<\/strong>, dando lugar a la Biomec\u00e1nica Computacional.<\/p><p>El grupo de investigaci\u00f3n se enfoca en la Biomec\u00e1nica Computacional de fluidos y medios continuos. Esta l\u00ednea se orienta al dise\u00f1o de v\u00e1lvulas card\u00edacas y dispositivos de asistencia card\u00edaca superadores.<\/li><li><strong>Mecano-biolog\u00eda de la remodelaci\u00f3n \u00f3sea<\/strong>.\u00a0Esta l\u00ednea se orienta al dise\u00f1o o selecci\u00f3n de pr\u00f3tesis con predicci\u00f3n de la respuesta del tejido a la presencia del implante (dise\u00f1o personalizado) y a la simulaci\u00f3n de situaciones cl\u00ednicas de inter\u00e9s como la osteoporosis (devenida de procesos naturales -menopausia, vejez- o de patolog\u00edas).<\/li><li><strong>Desarrollo de implantes de cadera optimizados.<\/strong>\u00a0Esta l\u00ednea (no activa) trabaj\u00f3 en el desarrollo y prototipado de bioimplantes de cadera forjados, de producci\u00f3n nacional. Anteriormente se trabaj\u00f3 en predecir la vida \u00fatil de espaciadores de cadera comunes y reforzados\u00a0con alma de acero, en actividades cotidianas.<\/li><li><strong>Flujo en v\u00edas a\u00e9reas pulmonares.\u00a0<\/strong>Esta l\u00ednea (no activa) investig\u00f3 c\u00f3mo los broncodilatadores afectan al cierre y obstrucci\u00f3n de estos conductos en patolog\u00edas como el asma bronquial. Asimismo, contribuir a la determinaci\u00f3n de las dosis adecuadas de inhalantes a suministrar.<\/li><li><strong>Procesos de hemofiltraci\u00f3n.<\/strong> \u00a0Esta l\u00ednea (no activa)\u00a0 investig\u00f3 los procesos de microfiltraci\u00f3n en los ri\u00f1ones humanos, equipos de hemodi\u00e1lisis o di\u00e1lisis peritoneal, tendientes al desarrollo de un ri\u00f1\u00f3n
